Let It Ride Poker - Strategy

Statistically, Let it ride is known as a negative expectation game. This means that no strategy will ever entirely beat the house odds. The best one can realistically do is to follow the listed guidelines shown here and hope for the best. It is guaranteed that if you follow no strategy whatsoever your bankroll will deplete very rapidly.

1. Never bet more than the table minimum.

As a negative expectation game, the more you bet, the faster you will drain your resources. Always try to play at the table with the lowest minimum. If for instance, you decide to raise your bets to £10, you will actually have to pay out £30. In addition, by placing minimum bets, there is no chance you will run up against the aggregate payout limit. You wouldn’t want to place large bets, get a good hand, and then get fleeced on the payout.

2. Do not bother with the £1 bonus bet.

Investing £1 in the bonus bet is a much greater negative expectation than in the basic game. House percentages on the bonus payout in most casinos range between 25-35%, or more. Since the house take on the basic game is only 3.5%, the bonus bet can often simply be a waste of money.

3. Three card strategy –

Let the first bet ride if your initial three card hand contains any of the following. Any paying hand (pair of tens or better) a possible royal flush or a possible straight flush.

4. Four card strategy –

Let the second bet ride if your 4 card hand (including the first community card) contains any of the following: Pair of tens or better, all cards of the same suit or an open ended straight.
